Winter Lodge Philosophy
Winter Lodge is unique in that we are a purely recreational skating school. This means that students will be taught in a relaxed atmosphere and at a pace that is comfortable for the student. This is how we believe people learn best.
Our professional instructors decide both at what pace classes will progress and when skaters are ready to move up a level. You will receive a progress recommendation/evaluation form from the instructor on the last day of class. Please remember, it is not realistic to expect a skater to move up a level every session. The focus is on enjoying learning to skate!
If you want a more intense training program, or would want to move a skater up a level before they have mastered the required skills, then our skating school will not work for you.

Winter Lodge hockey classes are designed to be FUN, skill building, recreational lessons for children ages 7-11 years. This is not a league and Winter Lodge skaters do not play any outside teams. Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes. Makeups not available.
All participants must provide their own required equipment:
- Ice hockey helmet w/ face mask
- Ice hockey stick
- Hockey skates
Elbow pads, knee pads and gloves are strongly recommended. Other equipment and pads are fine, however not mandatory.
PLEASE READ BEFORE ENROLLING!
- Skater must have passed at least ‘A’ level before enrolling in hockey classes.
- Skater must have passed at least the required skating level and be able to perform these moves confidently in hockey skates.
- It is recommended that regular basic skills classes are also taken to improve overall skating ability as these are not skating lessons, but rather hockey skill building classes.
- If your child has never skated or is a beginning level skater, please enroll skater in Basic Skills classes before attempting to enroll in hockey, as hockey class does not teach skating skills.
